Get to the root of the matter instead of treating symptoms

One speaks of sleep disorders when people sleep worse, less or more irregularly than normal over a longer period of time and the performance and mental well-being of those affected are noticeably impaired during the day as a result.

Many people are affected: 20 to 30 percent of Germans occasionally have sleep disorders. Six percent – that is 4.8 million people – even suffer from chronic sleep disorders. More than one in two have problems falling asleep in the evening and do not wake up refreshed in the morning.

A wide variety of circumstances can trigger a sleep disorder. But up to now, the focus in this context has been less on researching the causes and more on therapy. Or to put it another way: the cause has not been investigated, but only the symptoms have been treated. In this respect, recent studies that have looked into the causes of sleep disorders and also monitored the success of treatment are worthy of attention.

It was observed that
– gastrointestinal diseases, mainly caused by infections, are associated with sleep disorders and
– Infections, mixed infections and disorders of the digestive system caused by pathogenic yeasts and Heliobacter pylori – in addition to multiple other disorders – cause a lasting impairment of spleen and kidney functions.

Sucesses that speak for themselves

If the treatment of sleep disorders is carried out through causal treatment of the gastrointestinal disorders and leads to good to very good improvements in sleep in 76 percent of the patients observed, then this should be reason enough for further research into the physical causes of sleep disorders. However, the treatment success through integrated cause medicine depends on continuous compliance of the patients over a longer period of time. Accordingly, it could be observed:
– In 90 patients with good compliance, the treatment led to good to very good improvements in sleep in 87 per cent;
– In 23 patients with limited compliance, only 35 percent showed good to very good improvements.

In this respect, the results give hope that the mass phenomenon of sleep disorders can be effectively countered if the causes are effectively treated and not just the symptoms alleviated. For details and to access the studies and monitoring, click on the links below.
